Chestnut Lodge

About Us

Chestnut Lodge is a small residential care home, set in a quiet tree lined road in the village of West Moors. The care home has now been open for over 20 years, but has recently changed hands, and is now under new management.

In December 2007, the home was bought by Jane Travers, a fully qualified Mental Health Nurse who has been working in care her whole life. She lives on the site, and spends most of her time in and around the home, making sure the residents are always happy.

Since taking over the home we have made many changes in order to provide the best possible care for our residents. We now organise games and activities for our residents to take part in on a regular basis, and we also arrange trips out for the residents. This can range from a walk in the woods, to a pub lunch!

Since Chestnut Lodge is a smaller care home, we believe we have been able to make it a very homely atmosphere. The relationship between staff and residents is not one of service provider/service user, but more like a friendship. This is also true among the staff themselves, over half of our staff are from the same family, and the other half are all great friends. All of our staff are trained in various aspects of care work. To find out more about our staff, please visit the "Staff" section of the site.
